I dined alone
And, in the absence of company,
took the time
to take it all in
noticing the
little
often unnoticed
things
The flicker of the candle
and the serene way the
snipped rosemary
floated on the surface
of the olive oil
on my plate
Shiny green olives
with their tanned interiors
bursting with tartness
contrasted by the
sweetness of the sangria
in my glass
Clear lightbulbs draped
crisscrossing above
and lively Italian music
adding to the festive
atmosphere
Slowing down
once in awhile
taking it all in
a nice change of pace...

I know how you feel; however, being alone for six nights and still having six to go is about to kill me.
