Folks, the books are closed on BOTH of our adoptions! Let the praises ring. After four years, Daniel was officially re-adopted...meaning that he can now have a birth certificate on file in a state office of vital records instead of only having the one copy of his Russian birth certificate. He can now apply for a U.S. passport if needed.
At the same hearing, we were able to finalize Baby J's adoption and legally provide him with our last name and the best big brother ever. At the court session to support us were my Dad and his wife as well and Keith's brother and our sister-in-law along with our nephew.
It's official. Final. Case closed. We are a family of four and loving every minute of it.

Super BIG Bama-sized Congratulations! :o)
Yay for one more thing off your stressful to-do list.
I did a study on adoption in the Bible and I got a copy of a friend's adoption papers. It was an interesting thing to read the papers inserting my own name in the place of the adoptee and the Lord's name in the place of the Parents. The biggest impact was the title of the pages "Final Order" as in, there is nothing else after this that can change what has happened here. One of the requirements on this particular set of adoption papers was the fact that not only were the parents adjudicated to be worthy, but the child had to be deemed worthy of adoption. God deemed me worthy of adoption as His heir. It blows my mind!
Congratulations, you have a wonderful family and many challenges before you. Cherish each and every day. They are all precious.
Congrats! That's so wonderful! Can I ask - why'd you have to do it all in Alabama instead of GA?

Our agency is an Alabama agency and their adoption laws are fantastic. Also, by finalizing there, we were able to get a much quicker court date and all parties in the adoption knew that law inside and out. It went REALLY smoothly...the two best words I've heard in a long time as he nodded toward D. and J. "Petition Granted...........and.........Petition Granted." :-)
Yahooooooo! Congratulations to all four of you. I am thrilled to pieces, and I know you are too!
