It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's...a GIVEAWAY!

With Mother's Day this weekend, I thought I'd do a little giveaway. But, even better than that, I get a chance to spotlight one of my favorite new bands--Anvue!

The minute I heard this L.A.-based Christian duo, I fell in love with their upbeat, folksy style. In fact, Sarah's voice reminds me a little of Norah Jones--very soothing. They describe their music as "driven by acoustic guitar with soulful alternative/folk rock melodies that are filled with hope & love."

And, the cool part is that they are sending me four CDs to giveaway for Mother's Day...so here's what to do:

1) Leave a Comment on this post through 11:59pm Saturday night (Central US time).

2) Be sure to include your email if you're commenting anonymously

3) If you are a Mom (or a Dad!), I'd love it if you'd mention one way that your relationship with Christ helps you be a better parent (**but you don't have to be a parent to enter...the giveaway is open to everyone!)

I'll randomly select four winners and will announce them here on Mother's Day. Believe me, you won't be disappointed...Anvue's music is truly inspiring!

i'd love to be entered!

i don't have a legacy of faith in my family so for me, motherhood is about drawing a line in the sand and saying 'No More'! The great desire of my heart is to make sure my precious kids all become God-followers.

I love the music, and how fun that you are having a giveaway! Thank you also, for stopping by my blog!

I am not a mommy yet, but am so thankful for my mother, who means so much to me and has pointed me throughout my life to Jesus. I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!!

Yay! Music! I haven't had a new CD since before B was born.

Christ makes it possible to forgive myself for the many mistakes I make daily as a parent. So I can move on and hopefully do better every day.

Hey! Thanks for commenting on my blog! I got my background here: http://cutestblogontheblock.blogspot.com/
It's super easy!

And for the giveaway: I think "Do unto others and you would have done to you" comes to mind. Treat your kids how you want to be treated, with respect, praise, and love.

My relationship with Christ helps me in my parenting because so often when my children aren't doing what I ask of them and they have attitudes that won't quit, I hear God whispering, "They are not acting any differently than you." It just reminds me that none of us are perfect and that if God can be patient and gentle with me, I need to be the same way with my children.

Count me in! I really don't know how I could be a mom without my relationship with Jesus! Being able to go to Him for everything, allow the Spirit within me to give me strength, and ultimately having Him as the ulitmate example as a parent. Invaluable!!! Happy Mothers Day :)

Hey! I checked out their video and I love the folk feel. Reminds me of home.

I'm not a mom yet, but I'm signing some papers in the morning that should help me be one by this time next year! (Yeah for us getting the adoption process rollin'!) After the many years of longing to be a mother and each month and year facing bitter disappointment, I've had to learn many lessons about God's timing, patience, trusting, and surrendering.

Probably the most valued part of God delaying our opportunity to grow our family is the time in which I've been given to have healing in my relationship with my mother. If I had become absorbed in mothering my own child, perhaps I would have neglected just how badly we needed to repair and grow our own mother/daughter bond.

Christ's love and his example to us has helped me view the ways in which to forgive and love my mother -- and to forgive myself. Equally as important, the intimacy I have with my Savior has afforded me the assurance that I can't go wrong when I open my heart to loving and nurturing "the least of these."

I hope Jesus just keeps on rockin' my world with ways to be better at so many things!

Hi Katie,
what fun!
prizes!! :-)

When I am hurt by the choices my children make (hurtful words, rebellion, deceit, etc.) I reflect and remember that it is nothing that I haven't done and continually do to Jesus...
I remember that He took that very same hurt, deceit, rebellion, and sin to the cross for me---and my kids---removing its sting. He forgave and continues to forgive me. This helps me put things back into perspective and extend that same mercy and forgiveness to my children.

Happy Mother's Day to you--one of my favorite Moms!!!

Count me in!

On days when I'm being a not-so-good Mommy, my patience is low, the whining is in full effect, and the 3-year old questions seems to be never ending, I constantly remind myself that I am blessed. I am blessed that Jesus decided to LET me be a Mom to one of HIS children. I am blessed that I have a child that can whine to me. I am blessed that I have a child that can walk and talk and have conversations with me. I am blessed to be called "Mommy" a thousand times a day.

That small reminder can change my whole attitude and day around. How thankful I am that I have Jesus in my life!

Hi there- so glad you found me again. I've lost track of so many in the past year, and am just now starting to reconnect- good timing!

I'd love some new music, so count me in!

My only source of true sanity and peace these days comes from my deep and abiding faith in a Heavenly Father that has promised He will never leave or forsake me! I am sure that in days to come I will rely on His wisdom and guidance when my kids are older and going through different challenges in life. But for now, while they are ages 2 and 4 months, I just need that dose of strength beyond my own self so that I can make it to the next nap!

First of all, thanks so much for the migraine remedy. That was so sweet of you!

Second, a giveaway? On Mother's Day? What could be better???

So here goes, I can't even imagine being a mother without having a relationship with Christ. There's just so much to this, I could write a whole dissertation (remember I am a professor!!), but I'll spare you and simply say that Christ permeates every aspect of my role as mother. I can only hope that my passion for Christ has in some small way left a legacy for not only my kids, but my great, great grandchildren!

Much love and Happy Mother's Day,
~Cheryl

Where do I begin!?!?! My relationship with Christ is the mirror that I use to see and learn how to love my children. I never even came close to understanding what unconditional love is or knowing how much Jesus loves each of us until I had children. They have opened my eyes and heart to the realization that it isn't about me anymore, and it never was.

i could not parent without the Word of God. when i try to parent from my own abilities, i see no fruit. when i just say what is on my mind to my almost 3 year old, we end up having a very bad day. but when Holy Scripture falls from my lips onto my son's ears, it is a blessing all the way around. it is a two edged sword, and boy does it pierce my little boy's heart.

Am I too late? Mommy time was at a premium this weeekend- family in from out of state, t-ball games, and Mother's Day lunch- it's about time I got to eat at Olive Garden and not Golden Corral. Anyway...
Christ has changed my Mom-life b/c I am constatntly trying (and trying is the optimal word in this sentence) to be a better mom and show my little men (Eric & Isaac) how to "be" God's love. It takes a lot of time and effort, but the struggles will be worth it in the end! I want them to be men of God and I want them to marry Godly women- I've already started praying for that- it's never too early!
Happy Mother's Day!
